Staying mindful of prayer (Salah) times while traveling presents a constant logistical challenge. Standard prayer apps calculate schedules based on static cities, resulting in inaccuracies as you drive across time zones, longitudes, and latitudes. Salatio’s Location-Aware Prayer Alerts dynamically calculate prayer schedules as you move, keeping you notified without manual adjustments.

What We Do

Salatio calculates and tracks precise prayer timing based on active travel coordinates:

• Dynamic Solar Calculations: Uses real-time coordinate math (latitude and longitude) to calculate precise prayer entry times instead of city-wide approximations.
• Travel Alerts: Sends notifications when prayer windows open, reminding you to seek a nearby rest stop or mosque.
• Timezone Auto-Adjustment: Dynamically adjusts calculations as you cross borders or timezone regions on road trips.

What We Don't Do

We respect operational limitations and protect user focus:

• No Constant GPS Pinging: We do not run intensive background location processes when the app is idle, preventing unnecessary battery drain.
• No Spam Notifications: Alerts are restricted to the five daily prayer windows and optional Friday prayer reminders. We don't send unsolicited promotional alerts during prayer times.
• No Location Logging: We do not log your movements or store a historical diary of where you prayed. Coordinate data is processed locally on the device to generate times.

How We Do It

We combine device sensors and astronomical formulas to generate schedules:

• Mathematical Solar Calculations: Our client application uses solar declination formulas based on the coordinate inputs of your mobile device, adjusting for local convention options (e.g., ISNA, MWL).
• Device Alarm Registers: Calculated times are registered locally within the device's alarm scheduler, ensuring alerts fire on time even without cellular connection.
• Offline Databases: We cache coordinate convention adjustments on the device, allowing calculations to function fully offline in remote areas.
